Gilbert Museum Quilting Bee
The art of hand-quilting lives on year round at the Gilbert Historical Museum; our
live quilting bee is one of only a handful of quilting bees in the country to still operate all year; you can find the live exhibit in our
Home Life room.
People will often design and piece together the top of a quilt, but seldom will they find the time to complete it. Often these quilts lie forgotten for decades until found by a family member in a drawer or attic, often after the original creator has passed away. We receive quilt tops from all over the country, not just locally.
Our volunteer quilters will finish the quilt stitching, fasten the quilt top to inner batting and backing, perhaps add a border and sometimes even bring out the comforting poof quality! If you have an heirloom quilt that you just don’t have the time or skills to finish, let our volunteers finish it for you. Find out more on our
Quilting Bee page.
